blackiron Helps Ottawa Tourism Reinvent Destination Marketing

blackiron supported our partner, Ottawa Tourism, with one of the most unique events in the organization’s marketing history – a three-day retreat for travel and event professionals at the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland. 

Aptly titled “We’re the same… but different,” the goal of the event was to do something different and explore new ways of building relationships in the travel industry that not only connect people from different parts of the globe, but to also showcase what makes Ottawa a truly unique and appealing destination for travellers in the UK.

“We wanted to do something different, get close to our clients and spend time getting to know them,” says Glenn Duncan, VP and Chief Marketing Officer of Ottawa Tourism. “It is all too easy for DMOs to follow the same formula as their competitors and deliver the same old showcases and fam trips. We are not afraid to take chances and experiment, so we decided to explore a different way of relationship building.” 

blackiron was responsible for the overall branding and messaging of the event. This included the design and creation of the invitations and programs, promotional videos, digital messaging, and signage to engage and connect Ottawa to the UK market.
